Dock cleaning in Cape Coral usually costs $175–$350 for a typical wood or composite dock, and a seawall cap $150–$300 for a standard canal lot. We clean them at the right pressure for the material and keep cleaning products out of the canal.
Docks and seawalls take more abuse than anything else on the property. They sit in full sun and salt spray, birds perch on them, and algae grows wherever the boards stay damp. A slick green dock is a real slip hazard, especially when you are stepping on and off a boat.

Wood docks
Pressure-treated wood is soft compared to concrete. Too much pressure raises the grain, leaves the surface furry and shortens the life of the boards. We clean wood docks at low to moderate pressure with a surface cleaner, working with the grain. Afterwards the boards look lighter and cleaner, and they are ready for a stain or sealer if you want one.
Composite docks
Composite boards do not splinter, but they do grow mildew in the grooves and can be scratched by a narrow nozzle. They get a gentler wash and a cleaner made for composite decking.
Seawall caps and boat lifts
- Seawall caps are the concrete strip along the top of the wall. They collect algae, bird droppings and the dark line where the water splashes. We clean the cap and the face just below it.
- Boat lift frames and bunks are rinsed and cleaned to remove salt, droppings and growth ($75–$150 added to a dock job).
- Barnacles below the waterline are outside what we clean. If they are a problem on the lift or pilings, a marine contractor is the right call.
Working next to the canal
The south of the Cape is mostly saltwater canals leading to the Caloosahatchee and the Gulf; further north there are freshwater canals too. Both are home to manatees, fish and birds, and whatever goes off a dock goes straight into them. So we:
- use the mildest cleaner that will do the job, and plain water wherever it is enough,
- keep the cleaning solution on the boards and rinse it inward, toward the yard, where we can,
- never use acid washes on or near a seawall, and
- stop work if a manatee comes into the canal next to us.

Dock and seawall questions
Can you clean my dock from the water?
We work from the dock and the yard. If part of the seawall face can only be reached from a boat, we will tell you at the estimate.
Will pressure washing damage my wood dock?
High pressure can. We use low to moderate pressure with a surface cleaner and work with the grain to keep the boards smooth.
Should I seal my dock after cleaning?
Sealing or staining wood after cleaning helps it last in the sun and salt. Let it dry for a couple of days first. We clean; we can recommend someone for the staining.
How often should a dock be cleaned?
Once or twice a year. Docks used by birds as a perch, or shaded by trees, need it more often.
